A 3 minute video summarising the Cognitive Sensations public programme, hosted by FACT in Liverpool and THECUBE in London. Compromising of 5 events, we learnt about the neurological effects of the digital age and its relationship with artistic practice.

Communicating between England and Canada, both artists share their experience as mothers in the digital age, commenting on the rather male centric design of their devices.

In the fourth event of the Cognitive Sensations programme, THECUBE became host to a conversation exploring the impact of the digital age on identity and health. This essay will explore the transformation of the self through an evaluation of current digital practices in relation to the body.
Time on Instagram is always presented as supplementary information. When an image or video is posted to the newsfeed or story section of an Instagram account, the pictorial and/or audiovisual content of the post is its primary tool for communication. This post is an exploration of the absence of time, and its impact on authenticity and transparence within Instagram.
PUBLIC PROGRAMME ESSAY #3
An essay exploring artistic practice investigating the impact of the digital age on perception. The narrative evolved from my observations of Cognitive Sensations, an event consisting of a series of presentations by a multi-disciplined panel, a participatory artwork called The Artist’s Presence (2018), and a Q&A session. This essay will seek to represent some of the issues we addressed, using examples of artistic practice to illustrate the conversations that artists can bring to the great debate surrounding screen culture.
Time, as we know it, can broadly be sub-divided into three states; physical time, biological time and psychological time. Historically humans have created different forms of systems to manage and divide time. This essay explores how the smartphone era has impacted these systems, and the human relationship with time.
PUBLIC PROGRAMME ESSAY #1
This essay will investigate how digital technology engagement affects the cognitive process of perception, employing the discourse explored in the opening panel discussion of Cognitive Sensations. In the debate, we discussed the influences of virtual reality and digital technology on the relationship between perception and the environment.
On the morning of the opening, we are getting very excited for our panel discussion exploring perception, and would like to share a promo video with you for Cognitive Sensations.
