The Downloadable Brain: Our New Kickstarter
We are live!
We are raising funds for the production of online content exploring the concept of downloadable brains. Once a fanciful idea in science fiction, mind uploading is considered a potential solution for human immortality. In this next Cognitive Sensations season, we want to bring you a public programme that explores past, present and future imaginings of this concept, questioning its moral, philosophical and societal implications.
From July 28th - August 27th we will be launching our new Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, to raise £3,300 for this programme.
What are we going to do?
We miss making events! In 2018, we produced a public programme exploring the neurological effects of the digital age. Since then our experimental activity has predominantly taken place on the blog. We want to combine our past practices and combine them into one. Taking full advantage of our newly digitalised lives, we want to bring you this new programme through a series of online experiences.
We intend to produce the following:
Online Event: A multidisciplinary panel discussion exploring the past, present and future of downloadable brains. From living robots, to the rise of artificial intelligence, will brains really one day be computerised, and what is our future of human and machine integration?
Artwork Production: A collaborative artwork with Marcos Lutyens exploring emotions, mind reading and technology. This will be an online experience that anyone can join, taking participants on a psycho-geographic journey interwoven with sci-fi narrative.
Essay Series: A small series of written interventions delving into the subject of downloadable brains from a range of perspectives, bringing together theories in art, science and technology.
